The Sun and the Moon
Mohammed Alkhoory, an emerging mixed-media artist based in Dubai, proposes an exhibition consisting of a recent collection of nine acrylic paintings. This proposed exhibition is rooted in the philosophies of wisdom and decision-making.
Each painting in this collection creates a specific scenario one may encounter in life in which different decisions can be made. They consider ideas of the right and wise decision in both momentous and mundane instances, often inspired by the artist’s daily life. These ideas are brought to life using a range of symbols referencing animals, humans, and natural elements, along with intensively vibrant colors, abstract shapes, and patterns.
Specifically, the sun and moon are motifs that run through the collection. They represent opposites and can be interpreted as yin and yang, chaos and order, devils and angels, and positive and negative. These various entities, which can complement each other or be starkly at odds, have a connection to what the artist understands as wisdom. He is fascinated by visual metaphors that can provoke deeper contemplations.
The exhibition would consist wholly of Aklhoory’s recent collection of nine acrylic paintings on linen and canvas, which can be hung in any order.
